We've Heard - 5/21/2019

What does it look like to care about our community’s children?

While the Stand community has maintained that all they want is for RVC to leave White Hill, in fact, Stand leaders–and we presume many Stand followers who are in the loop through Basecamp, with knowledge, we presume, from Anne Capron and district leadership, have been doing just the opposite. They’ve been actively trying to prevent RVC from leaving.

As Stand followers fist-pound their impatient anger and stamp their feet in a coordinated temper tantrum on social media because the Charter folks are moving cautiously before they return the White Hill location to RVSD, we are reliably informed that Stand leadership are, in secret, trying to dissuade St. Rita and the Archdiocese from renting to the Charter!

We aren’t really surprised at this bad behavior, as we’ve always maintained our belief that Stand and district leadership really wanted to destroy the charter, not just have it move off the White Hill campus.

Maybe some in the community will begin, now, to see who is actually leading them and what their real agenda is. This move is an opportunity for the community to move on and heal. It’s a shame Stand isn’t interested in dropping the conflict and focusing on their own schools.

What is wrong with these people? This is a great solution–let the charter people have their own campus, and let the middle schoolers have White Hill back. Why would Stand want to “stand” in the way of that???

I am with Stand and this is the most pathetic attempt at a lie. I just can’t figure out why you are doing this? Is it because RVC wants an out if they can’t afford SR and they need someone to blame? Literally, every single Stand supporter that I know wants RVC to more off of district property. Why would anyone sabotage that, is beyond me.

I understand your confusion. We’ve been trying to point out for a long time now that many (not all) of you Stand supporters have been misled by District leaders and Stand leaders. Their intentions are to destroy the charter not merely request it to move out of White Hill, even though that’s what they’ve been telling you.

You have been used in ways that are going to make you pretty upset, I’m sure.

That is simply not true. I understand that has to be your narrative because if you actually took the time to understand the harm that charters cause then you would be forced to realize that all that you have stood for is wrong. Stand is statewide now, this is not just about RVC as much as you want to believe that it is. Stand is supportive of RVC dropping Prop 39 and moving as that does lesson the harm. Nobody has any intentions other than a celebration when RVC leaves the WH campus, that, and continuing to advocate for charter… Read more »

Once again, we are not the Charter and we don’t represent the Charter. Let me ask though that when you discover on your own the Stand leaders have been trying to sabotage the Charter move to St. Rita what will you say and or do? Many of you, I’m sure, are going to be pissed off at having been misled. But many are going to be just fine with it.
All of us have watched in disbelief as Trump supporters continue to follow no matter what he does.

I think that you are going to have to do better than that. Unfortunately, your word isn’t going to cut it. So, if you have any proof I ask you to post it. IF that were the case then I would say that person isn’t a Stand leader. I know that the core group of Stand supports the move to St. Rita and wants that to happen ASAP. In fact, as you know, there is an entire string on Only In Fairfax full of Stand people saying that they support the move AND Stand made an official post saying that… Read more »

Our word doesn’t have anything to do with this post. As the title suggests (We’ve Heard) this is something that we heard. We are not required to verify and prove anything. We are a blog, “…a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries….” Ask somebody from Stand if it’s true. The real question is, IF, as you say, it is true and it IS Stand leader(ship) trying to undermine the Charter’s move, what do you say and/or do about it? We would hope you’d at least check a little… Read more »

I have asked and the Stand leadership is all in sync with asking RVC to Drop Prop 39 ASAP and let go of WH. They are all supportive of the charter moving to St. Rita. Stand is focused on Charter law reform. Stand has always asked the charter to drop rescind Prop 39, but RVC is still a charter and ultimately, Stand is anti-charter. If you didn’t know that then you haven’t done your homework. IF someone is calling St. Rita, that doesn’t mean it is Stand trying to undermine that lease. That could be coming from anyone in this… Read more »

We do appreciate your comment(s) but I’m sure you understand that you don’t really have any validity (no offense). No one knows who you are (which is fine), no one knows who Stand leadership is and Stand hasn’t said a word. We have seen this behavior so often from Stand commenters. That just because you declare something to be true that it makes it true. That is not going to cut it. And contrary to us not having done our homework, as you say, we actually have been listening to you, and we believe you. You are dedicated to destroying… Read more »

“angry CCS parents who )rightly) blame RVC for their demise” —

CCS was in trouble long before RVC opened. They were a school of 65 students renting a campus designed for 200, and despite years of effort and good intent, they didn’t attract enough students to be financially viable.

It’s a shame, really; kids who don’t do well at White Hill now have no other option for middle school in Ross Valley. San Domenico is hard to get into and significantly more expensive than CC was.

With the level of animosity and organized attacks and clear evidence of desire to do harm from day one (organized attacks on families, on prospective visitors, public shaming), RVC knows StanDistrict would love nothing more than to screw them in whatever way possible. Can’t blame them for being Uber ultra cautious that no funny business last minute destructive effort awaits…and will move as soon as they can.

You claim lone wolf renegade Stand actors when it befits you – claiming that no individual represents Stand – but then make broad swath accusations about anyone associated with RVC when one person does something you believe is reprehensible. Double standard, no?

You love anonymity when claiming you speak on behalf of an entire community; you created vetting committees for public office and then chafe when the names of said committee are exposed.

Listen, everyone in here is anonymous (although there are clear attempts at doxing), so your point is sort of moot. Aside from that, I just said above that I don’t associate the bad behavior with all from RVC.
I’m not sure why I’m anonymous as I Stand by what I say and am not ashamed. Suppose I just don’t welcome the personal attacks I would get.

Listen Trista .
Bennet did it .
Cascade and church meddling.
No questions and she will be held accountable.
Just wait .

Ask around why CC didn’t let Bennet in last year when she applied. CC were desperate for tuition and wouldn’t touch hers.

Why do ya think ?
It’s So obvious dear

Yes, ask HB about her phone call to the archdiocese, recommending that they talk to Bagley. It’s not a secret.

I believe you that most people aligned with Stand are supportive of RVC moving to St. Rita, and that totally makes sense. But your fearless leader has no limits to the crazy things she’ll do to try to destroy RVC.

Heather Bennett is not A Stand leader. There is no leadership. And yes, if she did that she did so on her own as that is NOT aligned with Stand’s thinking, at all.

HB has been quoted in the IJ as a Stand leader for years. Here’s one:

“It’s theft from our children,” said Ross Valley parent Heather Bennett. She is one of the leading opponents of the charter and a leader in STAND for Ross Valley Schools, the group behind the signs.

Another one:
Heather J. Bennett is the mother of two students at Manor Elementary School in Fairfax. She was co-president of the school’s PTA. She also is a founding member of Standwithrossvalleyschools.com

Heather Bennett is not a Stand leader???
wow wow wow
it must be worse than we thought that the Go Public cult are backpedaling as quickly as possible to cut ties.

What a scam .

Interesting…you speak for EVERY Stand supporter? Including the one who explicitly and profanely threated three women on Next Door?

So, my guess is you are referring to a crazy rant by some random and angry dude and not a known Stand lead. That post was denounced by several known Stand supporters and after the fact, Stand even wrote a blog denouncing that. You all love to link that one person to Stand in an effort to discredit. I won’t even stoop as low as you all do and call out the wrongdoings of several RVC folks. May 25, 2017 STAND Remains Committed to Civil, Fact-Based Discourse STAND does not condone the personal attacks or uncivil tone of some recent… Read more »

“Fact-based discourse” — that certainly is debatable. Many of the “facts” that Stand has repeated ad nauseum are opinions, a particular perspective, or outright lies.

I totally appreciate the call for civility and agree that we’re all neighbors and should treat each other with respect. But there’s been so much ridiculous (and mean) verbiage thrown around that it’s hard to take Stand’s statement seriously.

You must be joking. IJ, NextDoor – Stand leaders in constant dogpile, shaming, blaming, attacking, denigrating

Heather Bennett called the archdiocese and expressly asked them not to rent St. Rita to RVC. Begged. Several Stand members have contacted the priest at St. Rita and asked him not to rent to RVC. This is the truth. They are doing this quietly, behind the scenes, because others in Stand would be appalled if they knew.

Heather Bennett is NOT Stand leadership, in fact, she is her own one-woman show now. IF heather Bennett did that then she did that all one her own and she was wrong to do that. I would like to know if Father Ken has told you the names of people calling IF people are calling. I would like to know how you know a caller is Stand members. Who are Stand members? My point, again, is that IF people are calling it could be anyone who may not approve of Ross Valley Charter. I find it fascinating that you actually… Read more »

This is not true. I’ve spoken to a couple of people about this. Bennet ONLY said that the church should call Rick Bagley to check references.

Believe what you’d like. The people who know for sure what was said are HB and the man she spoke to at the archdiocese. And given HB’s history, she didn’t have anything nice to say about RVC. She’s made it her life’s mission to try to get rid of RVC and doesn’t have a problem embarrassing herself or Stand in the process.

Stand should have thought twice about creeping around and sticking their signs in Father Kent’s front yard. Did not work in their favor! St Rita’s church and Cascade were having none of the Stand Bagley sick pony show.
Bravo 👏
