RVSD propaganda or STAND propaganda?

From a letter posted on the STAND website and Facebook page:

It’s hard to imagine this latest lawsuit will be resolved in time for the start of school – and at  this time the prop 39 charter does not have access to their classrooms at White Hill Middle School.  Even more concerning for RVC is the lack of a signed Facilities Use Agreement (FUA), which they tied to their lawsuit.  Because of this, the district’s hands are tied and they are unable to negotiate all of the components of the FUA outside of the lawsuit and rectify the situation.

Let’s take a look at these two statements of purported  to be “facts”:

at  this time the prop 39 charter does not have access to their classrooms at White Hill Middle School   |   This statement was true because, believe it or not, Rick Bagley changed all the locks (including the office) at the Charter facilities at White Hill. And without even notifying RVC management.  Classy.  And for what purpose?  Spite?  Petulance, left over RVSD budget money?  Of course not. It was to provide Stand  with the information to publish in order to frighten prospective parents thinking of enrolling their children in the Charter.  Not nice.

The rooms are now open!

lack of a signed Facilities Use Agreement  |  As mentioned above, the rooms are open now but only after more lawyers and expense.

So what’s the takeaway from all this?  I think we should all start thinking for ourselves and looking to more sources of information than just the district and STAND.  It’s pretty clear by now they are working the propaganda angle together to frighten and discourage prospective parents.  It’s disappointing that they don’t see the truth as a tactic instead of deception and intimidation.  But, most thinking people will recognize that every conflict has a means to resolution.  People do it all the time.  And we should all be very suspicious of thoses who refuse to negotiate or mediate.

Are you saying that the school district and STAND are not providing reliable information?

Mind-boggling to think where we’d be as a community if the board hadn’t hired an ideologue with ZERO skill or interest in waging peace or negotiating conflict. There are administrators out there who understand that dividing the world into winners/losers, with us/ against us, tribal friends or foes is a losing proposition and a really crappy way to educate kids and model how to navigate conflict and engage diverse voices

Excellent focus, Suzanne!

We must learn to collaborate. For schools to model and teach it makes nothing but sense.

Anyone know if it’s true that Rick Bagley never met with MAP teachers or parents – or visited the program after he came? I don’t get how he knew it wasn’t worth trying to do whatever it took to try to put the breaks on dissolution? And how he seemed to come with an already negative mindset?

Rick Bagley was hired with the understanding that MAP was a “problem” that needed to be gotten rid of. He got to work on that immediately, and continued to take steps to diminish the program and frustrate the parents and teachers in it, until the board dissolved it a year and a half later. He never visited MAP classes. The only time he met with MAP teachers was to tell them that they weren’t allowed to talk to anyone about their program–not even if prospective parents stopped them in the grocery store. In his first year, the MAP part of… Read more »

On one hand I appreciate that Board President acted quickly to correct the latest stand blog about the faciiity use agreement not being signed . This happened because I emailed her and Stand with corrections . Unfortunately the stand blog was based on conditions that were totally fabricated “districts hands tied – can’t negotiate the Facilities agreement outside of a lawsuit” . Stand MADE THAT UP to instigate hysteria and scare off parents from consdering enrolling in the charter. Stand wants community to believe the charter will have no building for their school. If you follow the stand blogs this… Read more »
