I’m confused. Sharon and Luke direct the business official. The business official has the job of preparing documents for signature. I gave Conn some crap for a questionable application a few years ago when the school was desperate for extra funds. But, this is almost an irony when MCOE FCMAT Team should investigate RVSD for mis-appropriating funds from the district coffers over this battle against RVC. I also seem to recall some similarities to the lack of communication over the start of the new District office project and how similar that is to the items within the complaint from RVSD… Read more »

Why was this response not addressed in the board meeting? They had it before the meeting? It’s almost as if they agreed NOT to talk about it.

How much of the RVSD board’s and superintendent’s obsession is rooted in their underlying objection to a racially diverse school (for a white community anyway) thriving because they put all their children first and achieve competitive test scores while they focus not on children and teachers, but on building themselves a new district office?

It’s incredibly sad that the destructive impulses of Rick Bagley, Anne Capron and Robin Goldman have drawn so much energy from the good that could have been done for RVSD children. Now Marci Trahan has been co-opted into their craziness. Even if they succeed in destroying RVC, they will have failed, and will continue to fail the children they’re sworn to serve.

Good for RVC! They had the foresight to apply for a loan that they qualified for as a non-profit. With fewer private school options in the community (no more St. Rita or Cascade Canyon in Fairfax), RVC is a great option for local families.

Whether or not charters should or should not have been eligible is a question for a different body. They were. And charters all over the country were funded. If they use the funds for appropriate uses, they keep the money. Otherwise it’s a loan. This is just one of the latest long list of efforts to gin up community outrage and a huge distraction when focus should be on what RVSD is doing to serve the 90% of public school kids it has.

After reading the district’s complaint and RVC’s response, it’s clear that the complaint was not thoroughly prepared or investigated. There is a paper trail (board minutes) that shows RVC discussed the dire financial situation that would impact public schools and the need to secure the PPP loan. The fact that Conn Hickey completed the online application doesn’t mean that he did anything nefarious; it just means he started the process. The District is pretty desperate if they think these charges are going to stick. They just want the drama of the news cycle, and an excuse to deny the charter… Read more »

Another year, another round of education dollars being spent on lawyers. RVSD keeps throwing money away trying to destroy a little charter school that has only about 10% of the public school students in Ross Valley. Why does district leadership feel so threatened? And when will they learn? Every single time they’ve accused RVC of something and it’s gone to the courts, RVC has won. It’s such a ridiculous waste of tax payer money, both for RVSD, and for RVC to defend itself. And guess who is coming onto the school board unopposed? More Stand people who will continue the… Read more »

Robin Goldman has flooded RVC with PRAs making it remarkable that the school has been able to do much else besides respond to the onslaught. too bad for her, they’ve maintained their focus on our kids, who are thriving and loved. Test scores, which we don’t focus on, show that when kids love school, achievement follows. They tried to kill us – first by driving down enrollment with signs, posters, harassing billboards on trucks parked outside, leafletting, and mailers. They tried to get the archdiocese not to rent to us. Now they’re getting the district to fund accusations about fake… Read more »

RVSD parents need to wake up and start asking who is making the decision to fund this “investigation”? And to weigh in on whether they’d like the board’s focus to be on the district or to start acting on behalf of the SBA.
