California’s latest academic performance results not only show that our public schools are failing millions of students, they also shine a light on state education officials’ efforts to resist being held accountable for the crisis.
The Local Control Funding Formula has brought schools over $200 billion since it was passed four years ago, and all we have to show for it is a one-point increase in student achievement. There is no excuse for such abysmal outcomes. The state test results once again paint a bleak picture of the state of public education, providing further evidence of a seriously broken system that needs to be improved. Students deserve better.
